Dear Zombie Apocalypse Diary Day 3: Where desperation rules my choices... (part 1)

I don't think that zed can see me... it would be running right?
Dear Zombie Apocalypse Diary...

First Life

I can’t remember the details of the start of last night’s first life, other than the obvious… spawn at coast, bla bla bla. Ok, some of it’s coming back to me. I was close to some town, I didn’t go in, thought this time I’d avoid civilization as much as I could, maybe I could wander into the wilderness and find smaller places to loot for survival supplies. There was a rundown service station right outside of town, while I was exploring the service station it started to rain, making it cold and damp. And my search of the service station proved to be a waste of time, nothing was found.

Wait… I did venture towards the town! Just on the edge, by the water, there was a barn. I made my way to it, carefully. There were zombies to avoid, saw two of them as I belly crawled around a fence. I stayed down low, still for half a minute, as I waited for a zombie to wander away from the barn I was planning to explore. And then I made it into the barn, I closed the doors, but there were wide open doors on the other side of the barn, and I’m pretty sure the other zombie was on that side. Unfortunately my explorations of the barn came up with nothing, there was no loot to be found. And to make matters worse, a zombie noticed me!

I’d climbed up some stairs in the barn, and had trapped myself, as the zombie was also coming up the stairs, coming along the balcony, and that was my only way out! There was nothing to do, but run straight through the zombie, which I did. It got a few hits in. I made it to the stairs, ran down the stairs, out the barn, ran as fast as I could. Both zombies were chasing me now. But I got lucky, as I eventually lost them. I had run straight for the wilderness, up a hill, through trees. I think that’s how I lost them.

I was a bit torn up, lost a little blood, but I appeared to be surviving. I continued into the wilderness at a jog, there was nothing around, and I just wanted to get a lot of space between me and those zombies. It was still raining, and as I made my way through trees and fields, walking towards some mountains, the sky lit up with lightning. And I could hear thunder.

After wandering around for a while, crossing some roads, walking through the wilderness, I heard someone cough! But I was confused, there was no one around. I continued on, and then I heard it again. That cough. And another about a minute later, and then I realised, it was me. I was coughing, I was sick. Sometimes I could hear an occasional gasp in my breath. I was suffering, my guess both from the cold and the injuries from the zombie attack.

I came to a farmstead. There were a few zombies around, so it was another slow belly crawl to explore, the farmhouse door didn’t open, the same with a few other buildings around, no doors opened. I was feeling pretty desperate at this point, I was in a poor condition and I was hungry. Strangely, while crawling around the house I came across a can of Beans & Franks. It was the first item I’d found! And it was FOOD!

Careful the nearby zombies didn’t see me, I left the farmstead. When I found a safe place, I stopped to rest and I gulped down that can of cold Beans & Franks as if it was my last meal.

The food helped a bit, I was feeling a little better. I continued my journey, I had to find something, especially more supplies, and a weapon to defend myself. I could see some tall buildings in the distance, I think it was a city, with the rainy weather, the clouds, the light was dim. Desperation made me decide to make for the tall buildings.

As I got closer to the buildings, I heard gunshots. And I saw some other buildings go up in flames. But I didn’t come across another person, just zombies. The first building I came to, I tried to keep low, and quiet. But a zombie noticed me as I was coming up to the building, so I tried quickly to make it through a door, I made it in. But the zombie followed. I ran up some stairs. Ran straight past another zombie, they had made swipes at me, I was hurting.

Trying to get away, things only got worse, I ran onto a balcony, they followed me, and I couldn’t get past. I was trapped. I tried to jump over the balcony rail, even though I was one or two floors up. But I couldn’t even do that. I turned to face the zombies, both of them together in their black suit and ties, looking like the Blues Brothers, continued to claw at me, and kick me, and eat me. The light went very grey and dark, until there was nothing.
